The Dogumentary Part Two

Metal nipples. That's what we were looking for. They were a kind of bolt connector that screwed into the fasteners on the particle board so that the attached piping could support the finish line flags. And, the other side of the course still had to be marked, from the road down to the park. There were enough volunteers, though, and we had plenty of time.

Eventually, everything got done. Or, enough got done that needed to be done before the race started. Someone found the metal nipples, and they were screwed in place. And the sun was out, although it was a few degrees around icy, and everyone was happy.

At the Ho Ho 5K in Tigard, there were costumes, festivity, and prizes: some wonderful, and some wonderfully odd. Amanda was going to put on the Santa costume, but someone relayed the information to her that it probably hadn't been washed in a while, and so Todd stepped in with magical courage and became Santa Claus. Just so the Dream could keep on living.

Then it was Christmas, the end of a year, and the beginning of a new one. The Purge and Splurge 30+ miles: the length of the Wildwood Trail, on December 31, followed by New Year's Eve. Then the Hangover Run January 1, and the Y2K.XI on January 2. The rest of the year lies ahead, but there's still plenty of winter left. Check out the newly revised Calendar, where you can find info on all the best races.

It's cold out there, so get out and enjoy it while you can. It only takes about five minutes for me to warm up, and then I'm thinking about the trip to Hawaii with the Crew planned at the end of February. The days are already getting longer, and as soon as winter is about over, it will be gone.
