Success is the scent of wet socks and pizza.
X-Dog Events opened the year with the oldest and largest snowshoe race in the northwest, the White River Snowshoe. Over 200 participants ran up the canyon and stomped among the snowy drifts while hesitant snowmen looked on. The pre-race event on Saturday at the mountain cabin included a lush run along the river, Bad Ass cooking his celebrated split pea soup, and cold beverages in the hot tub.
Run Wild Adventures kicked off 2011 with their mid-season Mission Trail Challenge. Mud was the predominant element. Slick, flat mud, the same type of clay that lingers around Hagg Lake. But, mud was not an element for this year's Buck Mt Mudslinger, as the trail was covered in 2 to 14 inches of snow.
Then, it was off to Hawaii for the X-Dog Crew while they worked on a secret project and planned the rest of the 2011 race season.
Craft Brewers Alliance, Inc. is a federation of four breweries that came together to share resources. To beer drinkers, they are Portland's Widmer, Seattle's Red Hook, Chicago's Goose Island, and Hawaii's Kona Brewing. Separately, they are strong companies with great products. Together, they are even more formidable, with a niche uniquely suited in this competitive market.
What does this have to do with the local running scene? Well, X Dog Events has announced that Red Hook is their new beer sponsor for the year. So, while the X Dog crew was in Oahu, they drank Red Hook in celebration of their newly acquired partnership. And, it also seemed right to consume a few bottles of Kona. After all, we're one big happy family.
