What To Expect at the Pine Hollow Tri June 13

Cory: Sounds intriguing. Do you recommend the sprint or the Pumice Man? Can I be guaranteed that Joe will wear a Tankini? Or at least a Speedo.

Bryan: Hey Larvik. Personally, I would just do the sprint tri, but that's mostly because I suck at swimming and cycling. I literally swim faster with my head out of the water, and my only bike is a mountain bike with knobby wheels.

But, for someone who's done a sprint and wants a little more, I'd go for the Pumice Man. There will be less competition in the Pumice, so there's a good chance you'll win something, and you get a killer Pumice Man trophy.

Joe just signed up for the Shamrock 8k, and he's going to wear his devil horns with his Speedo and green body paint, so he apparently hasn't yet outgrown his talent for exhibition. He's co-directed / officiated the Pine Hollow Tri several times, but this will be his first year racing it, so although I can't guarantee anything, I expect a good show.

I think you mean his TYR brief. If I ever catch anyone I know writing about a Speedo brief you best be warned...

I'm glad you brought that up, Aqua Girl. It's well known that TYR is a superior product over Speedo. However, I believe (and maybe Joe can clarify this) that his old, tight brief that he's ran many races in is a Speedo, whereas the brief he actually swims in is a TYR.

I'm also not sure if Joe would be wearing a wetsuit, as the swim is only 0.75k, and he's got to weigh the seconds he'd take off with a wetsuit versus the additional time in Transition One he'd have to spend taking it off.

Yes, I only wear a TYR brief while swimming.

During "multi-sport" competitions my sponsor obligations require me to wear other apparel, such as a skin-colored brief that is *not* TYR. :)

Sorry TriAqua Gal !
