We'd
like to thank all the participants of the 2012 Pine Hollow Tri for
making this the best year ever. Results and photos are now up, linked
from pinehollowtri.com.
We
will be offering registration for next year's race through
Portland-based Athletepath, a “complete race platform” that
integrates race calendars, registration and results, allowing you to
compare your performances and follow others. For this year, then,
we're offering 2012 results through athletepath.com, which should
be up in a day or two, so you can check it out and see how it all
works. We'll have a link set up at pinehollowtri.com when the Sprint
Triathlon and Pumice Man results are on athletepath.com.
Last
year Chris Chris ran into the finish (carrying his shoes) with just
socks on his feet, and this year Marie Young biked and ran in a dress
and sandals, so we're thinking the Style Award should be an annual
thing. Congratulations to winners Andy Libert, Bridget Dawson, Eric
Helser, and Whitney Dawson for earning free entry into the Pine
Hollow Tri in 2013 (for either the Sprint Triathlon or the Pumice
Man).
Props
to the Multnomah Athletic Club for bringing out record numbers this
year to represent! Thanks, also, to the Historic Balch Hotel, GU,
Small Town Roasters, Angler's Restaurant and Lounge, the Pine HollowLakeside RV Park & Campground, and the Pine Hollow Fire
Department and First Responders. And, thanks to our tremendous Crew,
mostly from our sister group, X-Dog Events.
Our
next race is our flagship event, the Timberline Mt Run Sunday, August
5. This is just a foot race, but it's the highest in Oregon, starting
and finishing at Timberline Lodge with an altitude around 6000 feet,
and peaking at 7000 feet at Palmer Chairlift. Just 6 to 8 miles of
fun, sun, and mountain slopes. The south balcony at Wy'East Lodge
will overlook the finish line, and will have beer and hot dogs during
the awards ceremony. More info is at www.timberlinetrail.com.
Our
last race of the season is the Multnomah Falls Trail Run Saturday,
September 29. Starting and ending at Wahkeena Falls, the 5.6 mile
loop goes up and around Multnomah Falls, then down Wahkeena for some
nice elevation and five Columbia River Gorge'ous waterfalls. More
info is at www.portlandrunner.com.
Meanwhile,
join us for X-Dog's Mt Hood Scramble June 17 at White River Snopark
West, then the McCubbin's Gulch Scramble July 15 (and the Creek
Streak Saturday, July 14). Much more at www.xdogevents.com.
We'll
open up registration soon for next year at a very special rate, just
for past Pine Hollow Tri participants.
